Parkour Classes

From day one you’ll be moving over, across, under and through various obstacles!

Through the 9-week Level 1 course, you’ll be safely introduced to the basic movements of Parkour and freerunning while naturally building strength, speed, stamina and balance in a safe environment.

Curriculum

We rotate through a 9-week curriculum of Parkour classes, with several skills one must adequately perform before graduating to the next level. Below are some examples of the level 1 skills a student will learn.

Landings – Proper slapout landing technique, momentum transfers, balance and precisions, and proper breakfall techniques.

Vaulting – Learn how to move over, onto and off of various obstacles using a variety of different vault techniques.

Climbing – Breaking down and learning all the pieces of climbing on top of various obstacles, then applying those techniques to see how high you can climb.

Rolling – Learn how to jump from progressively higher obstacles and safely perform a Parkour shoulder roll to transfer your momentum.

Flow – Altering movements you already know, and learning some new ones, we will explore the more creative side of things, introducing some important Freerunning concepts.

Tumbling – Learn the foundational movements of freerunning-style flips with proper takeoff positions, forward and dive rolls, and handstand, bridge, and cartwheel progressions.

Bars – Learn proper underbar techniques, swinging and releasing techniques, casting and rolling, etc.

Wall Tricks – Learn to use flat and slanted walls in creative ways with movements including wall spins, twisting wall runs and cat grabs, step up handplant wall gainers (OH MY!), and everyone’s favorite, the wall flip.

Games/Test Practice/Misc – These classes are reserved for Band Challenges, Parkour games, advancement testing practice, and other miscellaneous things that don’t fit squarely in our other class topics.

Supplementary classes

Obstacle Courses

Test your ability to move quickly, safely, and efficiently through multiple obstacles.  Through this 4-week course, we will explore many different situations and explore movements and mindsets to take to overcome them.  Much of the focus will be on maintaining speed throughout a course, and picking the correct movements to do so.

Our gym is constantly changing, and so will the courses.  Each week will have different courses to conquer.

This class is designed to supplement your core class training, applying the moves you’re already practicing in your core parkour classes to an obstacle course.

Flips

Everyone wants to learn how to flip!  The flips class will start at the very basics of a flip and throughout the session will expand and explore that flip in various locations and with different styles.  All of our flips classes will focus on either front, back, or side flip.  Try them all, or just keep working on mastering a single one.

Flips classes are offered at an Intermediate level, where you can test for a specific flip (front, side or back), and Advanced level, by invitation only.

Mobility

Mobility is the ability of a joint to move freely through a given range of motion (ROM) without restriction from surrounding tissues.” It isn’t your typical fitness training! Essentially, it is your level of unassisted strength to get through a full range of motion.  Our Mobility class goes through numerous exercises that can help to improve the strength and flexibility of your body.

It is a great recovery class, or class for a rest day!

PK Fit

PK Fit is a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class that uses Parkour movements for conditioning, rather than more traditional exercises.  In a typical HIIT class, you may be doing a minute of intense rowing, with a minute of rest, followed by a minute of sprints, followed by a minute of rest: hence, interval training.  In PK Fit, we follow this same structure, but use common skills and movements found in Parkour to achieve a workout. It’s an awesome way to get fitness training in, in a really creative way!

Guided Open Training

Train on your own or with friends, practicing skills you learned in classes.

Chase Tag

*** COMING SOON™ ***

Chase tag is a class where you can put your parkour skills to the test in a game of tag. Students will have the chance to learn about the safety, techniques, and tricks to a game of tag. Throughout class, we are heavily focused on safety with safety practice and safety reminders at the start of every class. Class runs on a monthly rotation. During the first 3 weeks, the class will mainly focus on individual skills/techniques done by the athletes themselves. During these 3 weeks, the students will learn how to build up speed and agility, get more comfortable falling and failing, and to use proprioception. In the last week, week 4, students will be able to take the skills acquired and apply them to 1v1 chase tag games.

  • Increase speed/agility
  • Increase awareness and proprioception
  • Cardio and endurance training makes for a great workout
  • Added application of parkour skills
  • Fun!

HAND-BALANCING

*** COMING SOON™ ***

The Handstand is the single most important skill in all acrobatics, flipping, tricking, and freerunning.  It is the best way to increase your Inverted Proprioception or “understanding what your body is doing while you are upside-down”.  In this class we will work on a large variety of hand and arm balances from yoga, gymnastics, breakdancing, and more!  No experience required.  Class will consist of about 30-40 minutes of warm up exercises related to the hand balance we’ll be working on, and the rest of class will be spent flying and finding crazy challenges!

  • Learn the basics of hand and arm balancing starting at the very beginner level!
  • Work through comprehensive warm ups and exercises to get better at hand balancing!
  • Increase your inverted proprioception and get better at all acrobatics!
  • Strengthen your wrists, shoulders, and core!
